Handover day is your chance to see everything with fresh eyes before the furniture and boxes arrive. Your project manager walks you through the home, but it helps to have your own list. Here is the one we give our clients.
Kitchen
- Open every shutter and drawer. They should close softly and line up evenly.
- Run the sink and check under it for leaks after a few minutes.
- Check the countertop joints and the silicone seal along the wall.
- Switch on the chimney and the lights under the wall units.
Wardrobes and storage
- Check that shutters do not rub against each other or the loft.
- Test locker keys or digital locks.
- Look for gaps between the wardrobe and the ceiling or wall.
Ceilings, lights and paint
- Switch on every light and every switchboard point.
- Look along the ceiling edges for cracks or uneven joints.
- Check walls in daylight for patchy paint or marks.
Paperwork
- Warranty card listing each modular unit
- Final invoice with GST shown separately
- Manuals for hardware, appliances and lighting
- Contact details for after-sales service
Note anything that is not right on the snag list your project manager shares. Most small issues are fixed within a few days, and anything that appears later is covered by your warranty.
